Downtown Oxford

A couple weekends back, Steph and I were supposed to go see a friend perform in a play in downtown Oxford. Trouble was, we had bad information. Our friend told us the play started at 7, but when we rolled up right before 7, we saw a sign on the door that said that the play was at 2:30.

4 1/2 hours late.

Thanks for the head’s up :0)

So we decided to walk around downtown, and stopped at this staircase.

This is a special staircase. I sat precisely where you see Steph sitting the very first time that I ever spoke to her. We arranged a ‘phone date’ after emailing back and forth a ton, and after VBS one night, I walked over to these stairs and sat down, and nervously dialed the phone.

That was about 2 years ago, and it’s hard to believe that we already celebrated our first anniversary, and awaiting Baby Riesland in 6 more months!

God is good…

“All the paths of the Lord are steadfast love and faithfulness for those who keep His covenant and His testimonies.”

  1. I like your story ’bout the 1st phone date. Your love story is quite a romantic one. In such a short time you went from thinking you might remain single so you could be single-minding in serving the Lord, to being married and serving Him together. He has a way of changing our plans and desires, doesn’t He? He truly is an awesome God! I want to see the Baby Riesland pics (ultrasound) if you can post them. (I’ll look around your many sites for them, just in case I missed anything.) I have already been praying for him/her, and that you will both be the bestest parents in the world! That’s not too hard, you know. All you need is lots of love, dedication, a strong prayer life, faith that all things truly do work together for good, and a good book or two by James Dobson and good (godly)parenting experts like him. Got it? Good! (And of course, if you get stuck anytime, you can always call your mom, since she’s an unpublished expert!) Now you’re ready…I love you guys…Denise
