“I go to prepare a place for you”

Last night, I spent a couple of hours working on our son’s nursery. Afterwards, as I drove to the house where Steph and I are house sitting, I envisioned what the end product will be like, and I thought of the day when we’ll bring him home and enter the nursery and I’ll say, “Welcome home, buddy. This is your room. I hope you like it.”

I’m really looking forward to that day.

I quickly thought about some of Jesus’ last words, “I go to prepare a place for you.”

It really struck me because when I think of heaven, I think of being with Jesus.

That is heaven… just being in God’s presence.

I know heaven has more to it that we can find in the scriptures, but it’s all kind of icing on the cake as far as I’m concerned.

But the more I thought about it, the more I was really blown away:

Those Extreme Home Makeover guys can put together a pretty sweet house in about a week.

God created the whole known world in less than a week.

…and He’s been building something for 2,000 years.

…for us!

And if the way I feel about greeting my son is any indication, He’s looking forward to us coming up to join Him!

If that doesn’t get you excited, then you’re probably a Tar Heel fan or something…

  1. Right on! This line: “And if the way I feel about greeting my son is any indication, He’s looking forward to us coming up to join Him!” really touches me. I know how excited you are about the coming of your son. To put that in perspective of how He feels about us joining Him is something to behold and give thanks for. God bless you brother.
