File this one under “Who could have guessed?”

I just saw an article on the BBC (no link ’cause it’s a bit graphic) titled “Music linked to teen sex habits“.

Here’s the short version:

Researchers from Pittsburgh University quizzed 711 teenagers about their sex lives and music listening habits.

They found those who regularly listened to music with explicit and aggressive sexual phrases were twice as likely to be having sex.

I’m just having a hard time understanding why this is news.

Is anyone surprised to hear this?

Teenagers, take my word on this: What you listen to will influence how you behave.

There are absolutely no exceptions.

I promise…

  1. I agree. But I also think that it could work both ways. Like, if I wasn’t messing around, I probably wouldn’t like to listen to that kind of music. Not necessarily that liking that kind of music would lead to me messing around. Ya know?

  2. You’re right, Tricia.

In fact, in the article, it makes that point.

I’m just saying that in the scripture, it says that the eye is the window of the soul, and I think to some degree, the ears fall under that too.

I can still remember whole entire foul-month gangster rap songs I haven’t heard since middle school. I can’t imagine carrying around “I kissed a girl and I liked it” for the rest of my life :0)
