Today the battle cry of the liberal church is social justice as a means to share the love of Christ. The battle cry of the conservative church is that we have to get back to our biblical worldview to defend the cross, but somewhere in the mix we forget to preach the cross, the Gospel. I just finished a book by K.P. Yohannon called Revolution in World Missions. He makes the case that the Western churches philosophy of evangelism has been steeped in the two above mentioned approaches and the fruit is no where to be seen but by empty buildings, hospitals, and orphanages. This is the result after 150 years worth of this style of missions work. We have been doing the work rather than allowing the cross be the catalyst for the work. May we turn from these approaches and get back to the cross where Jesus died so that none shall perish, but have everlasting life. Amen. Oh how this is so missed.
