I haven’t posted any movie reviews in a while, but I really appreciate it when someone recommends a good movie, or saves me some time and money by advising to steer clear of a particular film.
Recently, we’ve seen a few, so here are a quick couple cents, for whatever they’re worth :
Ghost Of Girlfriends Past: 4 out of 10 – Stephanie and I love Matthew McConaughey and we had high hopes for this movie, but the whole thing revolves around sex. There are some good laughs, but not worth the dirty feeling I had when I left the theater. Very disappointing.
(more after the drop)
Night At The Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian – 7 out of 10 – I like this one a lot. Very funny. Very clean. And surprisingly, not exactly like the original with a new setting. The only reservation I have is that a lot of the humor is deeply sarcastic, so I wonder how much of it would go right over the head of anyone under 13, but all in all a very good flick.
Definitely, Maybe – 4 out of 10 – The only reason this thing gets over 2 is that it is somewhat realistic. It doesn’t romanticize the heaviness of life and the pain of bad decisions. There is no perfectly happy ending. But there is some crude humor that is absolutely over the line, and the movie itself is just depressing. I was glad when it was over.
Seabuscuit – 8 out of 10 – I know, I know… this movie has been out for 6 years now, but I just saw it for the first time last week and I loved it. Even though it was somewhat predictable and sappy, I still enjoyed it immensely. If you blew this one off, give it a try!
