The talk was very interesting and certainly kept my attention. Rob even played highlight films of Larry Bird (a great basketball player from when I was a kid).

At one point during the talk — and I think you could reasonably say that this is the thesis of the message — Rob makes this statement:

“What if the cross was God’s way of asking, ‘What do I have to do for you to get along?’ ?”

At first I thought, “Wow, that’s powerful.”

But then, the more I thought about it, the more my eye brows went up…

I’ve never heard him say anything that made me flinch, but he promotes some questionable theologians, like Dan Kymbal, and seems to spend a LOT of time studying and teaching from and quoting Solomon, which seems like shaky ground.

But he has taught me some things over the years. I’ve never met him or even seen him in person, but I’ve listened to many of his sermons. I used to listen to the Mosaic podcast every week, and I like the picture of a filled life and Erwin can paint. He’s also great at painting pictures with his words.

Last year for easter, he gave a message called ‘beauty’, and it was one of the best sermons/messages I’ve ever heard in my life. The link is no longer up on the website, but this year he gave an updated version of the same message again. You can go to the mosaic podcast page and download it for free. He talks about good steak, starbucks, and Jesus, and you just can’t say no to that.
